Vaping cannabis extracts is an easy, effective and unobtrusive way to inhale. There are several different types of vapes that can be used, but pre-filled cartridge vaporizers with a rechargeable battery are among the easiest methods to use. An example of such a device is the vaporizer pen. Vape pens consist of 4 main components: atomizer, cartridge, battery and electronics.

Vape cartridges (cartridges) are pre-filled with cannabis extract, can be disposable or refillable, are manually screwed onto a battery with the appropriate thread size (510), and come in 0.5-1 ml sizes. Disposable cartridges should not be refilled as leaking cartridges can damage the battery or vape pen. Once the cartridge is exhausted, throw them away and replace them with new ones. You can also buy a set of 8 cartridges from Cannastry containing 99% HHC in a convenient package or a set of 4 cartridges containing 95% H4CBD from Canntropy.

The small incandescent element in the cartridge of a vape pen is called the "atomizer". It is the part of the cartridge that is responsible for heating and converting the liquid into vapor. When buying a cartridge, check what material the atomizer is made of. The atomizer materials determine the voltage range required from a compatible battery to achieve the optimum vapor temperature. The most commonly used materials are copper, quartz, ceramic, titanium and titanium alloys. Vape pens with quartz coils are renowned for their potency and ability to provide a subtle flavor. Devices with a ceramic element are slightly more favored because they provide the largest yet most subtle vapor.

There are 4 generations of oil cartridges:

  • The classic polycarbonate or plastic cartridge works best on a low voltage battery.
  • The glass cartridge has a similar design with a glass casing and a higher quality construction. It works well in the 3.3-3.7 V range.
  • The third model is revolutionary in that the wire spiral is replaced by a ceramic heating element that heats the wick. The material of construction of these cartridges varies by manufacturer, with glass, ceramic, metal and stainless steel being the most common. For proper operation, the recommended voltage range is 3.3-4.0 V.
  • The wickless ceramic cartridge contains a ceramic heating element without a coil. A battery of at least 3,7 V is suitable. It is suitable to pair a variable or fixed 3.7 V battery with wickless ceramic cartridges.

The current trend is towards all-ceramic and all-glass cartridges that separate the cartridge contents from any contact with metal materials, offering the cleanest vaping experience on the market. These cartridges are now the pinnacle of the industry. Heating in these cartridges is similar, and it is recommended to use 3.3-3.7V batteries.
