Autoflowering cannabis strains

Autoflowering cannabis strains emerged due to the use of cannabis ruderalis genetics developed in the northern parts of the world, where summers are shorter and therefore less light is available during the year. When cannabis ruderalis adapted to these conditions, it developed the ability to bloom according to the age of the plant and not after the change of photoperiod as seen in common varieties. This trait inspired plant breeders to combine ruderalis genetics with Sativa or Indica genetics leading to the creation of hybrids that retain the content of Sativa or Indica cannabinoids but they bloom according to their age. Thanks to this trait, some of these hybrids are ready to be harvested just two months after planting.
