XVape Aria vaporizer review

In 2019, X-Vape released the Aria vaporizer, an affordable portable device compatible with dry herbs and concentrates. The Aria has its pros and cons, but offers good value considering its price.

The X-VapeAria is a low-priced portable vaporizer that is compatible with both dry herbs and concentrates. It provides decent performance and works well, on sale at an affordable price, yet - it doesn't offer the best taste and quality we've experienced. If you are an experienced vaporizer user looking for rich flavor, this is not the vaporizer for you. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive way to start vaping, the Aria may suit your needs.

Design & Features

Design

X-Vape has designed the Aria vaporizer with an aluminum shell covered with synthetic leather in the front. When I held it in my hand, I enjoyed the feeling of insulation from the rubberized finish. It got me thinking though, how long will it last, and how quickly will it wear out?

Aria has a three-button interface with LED display and a micro-USB port that supports use while charging. The accurate temperature and digital display are remarkable features for a vaporizer in this price range.

At the top, the Aria has an all-ceramic mouthpiece attached to the chamber with a magnet. The magnet is quite strong, so you don't have to worry about it falling out of your pocket. At the bottom of the unit is a hidden tool for mixing the herb and for emptying the chamber of used herb.

Heating chamber

The Aria has an oval ceramic heating chamber located at the top of the vaporizer, directly below the mouthpiece. It uses the conduction heating method and up to 0.3 grams of dry herbs can be placed in the chamber. I recommend using a mixing tool between sessions, the vaporizer has a higher efficiency this way.

Precise temperature

The Aria has precise temperature control and offers a range of 100 - 240 °C. The temperature can be easily adjusted using the buttons and a short vibration lets you know that everything is ready. When vaping dry herb, I would recommend avoiding higher temperatures. However, I know some users like the thick dense clouds that are created when vaping.

Aria can be heated to the high temperature required for effective evaporation of concentrates. However, you should never vape dry herbs at more than 215°C - unless you like the burnt taste of popcorn, because that's what you'll be inhaling. Even though Aria is compatible with extracts, I always recommend not using extracts with your dry herb vaporizer because it will glue everything together. Buy a separate dab pen for all your "fusible materials" and use your herb vaporizer exclusively with dry herb.

Battery life

The Aria is powered by a built-in 2,600 mAh battery and uses a standard micro USB charger. It takes approximately 3 hours from empty to fully charged and lasts 4-8 sessions on a single charge, depending on your vaping temperature.

Optional accessories

X-Vape also offers an adapter for the water filtration system that can be purchased separately for expanded functionality and use with dab kits.

X-Vape Aria vs. X-Max Starry V3

Both the Aria and Starry V3 are portable dual-use vaporizers made by X-Vape in 2019. Both have the same interface, precise temperature control, vibration feedback features, and generally the same size.

The Starry has a replaceable battery which is a big advantage and better compared to the built-in ones. Design-wise, the Starry feels more solid in the hand, and its aluminum body seems more durable compared to the leather cover of the Aria vaporizer. With that being said, if you're looking for a high-performance vaporizer, there are better options that are slightly more expensive but offer a lot more value.

Performance & Vapour Quality

Power

The warm-up time of the Aria vaporizer is about thirty seconds, which is considered fast for a dry herb vaporizer. The first few swipes were nice and smooth with a strong flavor, but the mouthpiece heated up after a few swipes, resulting in an irritating and warm vapor.

Despite the insulated air path, the path is too short to allow the steam to cool. As a result, both the device and the mouthpiece get too hot after a short session, and for me this is definitely a disadvantage in terms of performance. As mentioned above, this heating issue is common with smaller vaporizers.

Vapor quality

Considering its price tag, the Aria produces decent quality vapor with many similarities to another popular portable vaporizer from X-Vape - the StarryV3. As I mentioned earlier, the Aria produced big clouds at high temperatures, but the flavor was much compromised as a result.

Bottom line

Aria's doing what she's supposed to do. Nothing less and nothing more. Considering the price, it's a decent vaporizer and a good choice if you're a beginner looking for a simple vaporizer. I found the vapor quality to be average at best and the build quality could have been better. If you can add a few pennies, you should at least consider the StarryV3 which provides better value.
