Volcano Hybrid vaporizer review
In March 2019, we introduced the Volcano Digit desktop vaporizer in the first episode of our vaporizer review series published in ROOTS magazine. It turned out very well, and the rating of 98 % only confirmed its reputation as the best vaporizer in the world. It has not taken too long, and his newest successor has landed on my desk. It is the Volcano Hybrid.
As its name suggests, this device combines the best of two different worlds of vaping. The first one is made of free-floating balloons inflated with steam. The second one represents vaping directly from the vaporizer, using a tube connected directly to the device the same way as the balloons. Using the tube offers similar benefits to the balloons. Its length allows sufficient cooling before the steam gets inhaled.
If you own balloons from the previous model, keep them because you can use them with the Volcano Hybrid. I find this as a nice bonus.
The Volcano Hybrid also shows off with an improved touchscreen that makes the temperature settings very convenient and straightforward. If you want even more detailed setup options, Storz & Bickel comes with another novelty. You can use a Bluetooth connection to set the device. Just download the S&B app onto your smartphone and pair it with the Volcano Hybrid. This whole operation will not take more than a few minutes. Unfortunately, it took me almost half an hour when a minor glitch occurred during the update, which was probably caused by a storm in the digital universe (that is the only reason why a beautiful 100 % rating does not show at the end of this review). However, the update eventually went through, and everything would work without any issues from that moment on.
Along with the basic settings, you can set, for example, the course of heating the herb material or automated air pumping at selected time intervals. Another significant improvement from the previous model is the double helix heat exchanger, which allows heating up the botanical in no time – in less than 40 seconds.
I already praised the quality and first-class materials in the previous model review. This, of course, applies to the Volcano Hybrid too. The design is even more sophisticated and elegant thanks to the cool-looking touchscreen.
Similarly, the steam quality has not changed. Thus, you can look forward to a first-class and delicious vape, which is simply unbeatable.
Thus, the most critical change in this model is the possibility to inhale directly through the tube. Most likely, not everyone will favor it. Especially the slight smack of silicone at the first few drags may discourage you from using it. However, you will realize after a short time what possibilities it opens up in your vape universe. So do not be afraid to try new things.
Verdict
The Volcano Hybrid is the best desktop vaporizer on the market. Period. Compared to its predecessors, it has gotten improved performance, user interface, and overall functionality. So, if you do not already own a desktop vaporizer, it is time to break the piggy bank and get for yourself the absolute best of the best, get the Volcano Hybrid!
