TOP 10: Best CBN and CBD sleep drops

According to experts, the body needs at least eight hours of sleep to sufficiently regenerate. But few people get that nowadays. Lack of sleep disrupts metabolism and thus the secretion of various hormones. This increases the risk of obesity, heart attacks, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer.

If we really suffer from insomnia, it takes us more than thirty minutes to fall asleep at night, we often wake up long before the alarm in the morning. We may also snore loudly and struggle with fatigue, headaches, and even microsleep during the day. There are many causes of insomnia, ranging from poor sleep hygiene to serious health problems. In many cases, these are easily solvable minor issues, but other times we can't do without medical intervention.

Sleeping pills? Prefer cannabis products

Deep and restful sleep plays a vital role in our mental and physical health. And to achieve it, we often do not hesitate to resort to so-called sleeping pills. While these can indeed help us fall asleep faster, they come with a number of side effects that you should be wary of.

Drowsiness during the day, heartburn, fluctuations in appetite or changes in stools are common. There may be burning in the limbs or tremors. Long-term use can lead to dependence and increased risk of overdose.

But there is a safer alternative. Scientific studies have found that certain cannabinoids, compounds naturally found in cannabis, can have a positive effect on sleep. In particular, they talk about cannabidiol (CBD). At the same time, recent findings suggest that cannabinol, or CBN, could be an even more useful aid. Some research highlights its sedative and hypnotic effects. However, further research is needed to sufficiently confirm these assumptions. So if you suffer from sleep problems, consider trying one of the CBD or CBN products.

Cannabinoids? Isn't that THC?

Cannabinoids are substances that occur naturally in cannabis plants. Their counterparts, the so-called endocannabinoids - cannabinoids produced by our own bodies - have been found in the breast milk of mammals, including humans. Currently, more than 100 cannabinoids are known, including CBD and CBN, as well as the best-known THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Our body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS), which includes cannabinoid receptors. These are located in the central nervous system, the immune and digestive systems, the hormonal glands, the arteries or the eyes. The ECS is a system that is responsible for a number of important functions in our body, especially the maintenance of internal balance (homeostasis). Clinical research is focusing, among other things, on how cannabinoids from cannabis interact with our ECS. It also highlights the properties that may make substances such as CBD or CBN beneficial to humans.

The most widely used cannabinoid at the moment is undoubtedly CBD, which, unlike THC, has no psychoactive effects and its use does not alter our perception of reality. Clinical trials have shown that CBD has considerable therapeutic potential - it has the ability to fight inflammation, protect the nervous system from damage and is also beneficial in the field of psychiatry. It can relieve chronic pain, improve sleep, alleviate skin problems as well as anxiety, stress and nervousness.

There are a wide variety of CBD products on the market in different shapes and forms. The most popular has long been CBD oil, which is colloquially referred to as CBD drops. This is hemp extract dissolved in a carrier, most commonly hemp, coconut or olive oil. CBD tinctures, made by soaking the plant material in a solvent, CBD capsules or CBD candies are also popular.

CBN as a companion in the fight against insomnia

Although CBN is the third most common cannabinoid found in cannabis plants after THC and CBD, the amount of CBN found in plants is an order of magnitude less than the first two cannabinoids (usually 1 to 2 %), which is why CBN drops and other products containing CBN are usually much more expensive than CBD drops.

Unlike CBD, which is a completely different cannabinoid from THC, CBN is derived from THC itself and is formed by its breakdown. Yet it has little or no psychoactive effects. Although CBN's "magical" abilities include pain reduction and inflammation control, it is best known for its powerful sedative effects. However, on its own, i.e. without the other cannabinoids and other substances contained in cannabis, it may not have such effects. How to understand this properly?

The theory of the entourage effect comes into play, which suggests that the compounds in cannabis work better together than in isolation. When choosing an oil, it is therefore a good idea to pay attention to the type of extract from which the resulting oil comes. There are 3 types of extract: isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum.

Oils created from CBD isolate alone contain a form of CBD chemically purified from other components found in the cannabis plant. Thus, no terpenes, flavonoids or other substances are found in them. Broad spectrum oils, on the other hand, already contain most of the naturally occurring compounds. However, they are purposely depleted of THC and are suitable for users who prefer products without traces of THC.

Finally, full-spectrum or all-spectrum oils or extracts already contain all the important compounds. They contain cannabinoids, including legal traces of THC, aromatic terpenes, flavonoids, phenols, sterols, esters and proteins.

So if we want to maximise the effects of CBN, it is worth reaching for CBN oil, which contains not only CBN itself, but also other compounds from cannabis, such as cannabinoids and terpenes. The compounds work synergistically to enhance and strengthen their therapeutic effects.

There are several potential side effects associated with the use of oils, but these are usually mild. These include fatigue, drowsiness and dizziness, but the truth is that they disappear after a while. And the psychoactive effect? This is only about 10% of that of THC. CBN also produces relaxing and sedative effects at 2.5 mg.

Dosage is the key

So how to dose CBD oils and CBN oils correctly? A 2017 in-depth survey by the US National Institutes of Health found that there is simply no universal dose of CBD and, by extension, CBN that is suitable for everyone. This is due to many factors such as age, metabolism, weight or type of ailment. It is important to remember that oils are not medicine and so it is not possible to determine exact dosages as with drugs.

We have to assess our reactions to CBN oil and CBD oil individually. If a small dose is not enough for our insomnia, it is possible to increase it. It is therefore always better to start with a low dose, in the case of CBN approximately one drop under the tongue half an hour before bedtime. If the dose is not sufficient, increase the dose one drop at a time. There is also the option of taking CBN in capsule form. However, taking it under the tongue provides a faster onset of effects because CBN is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. The sedative effects usually appear half an hour after taking it.

You can read additional information about dosing CBD and other oils here. And now, let's take a look at the TOP 10 products with both CBN and CBD from different manufacturers that will help you fight for a restful sleep and an undisturbed long night.

In the oil you will find, for example, the terpene linalool, which has been used in aromatherapy for thousands of years. It is used for its anti-stress properties, and is naturally found in lavender, giving it its distinctive scent. Another of the terpenes, limonene, is again popular for its sedative effects and its calming and relaxing effect on the body's motor system. Moreover, it improves the absorption of other terpenes by the skin, so it finds its place in ointments and tinctures.

Myrcene, the most abundant terpene in cannabis, is known for its anti-inflammatory potential. It has an earthy, fruity aroma with hints of mango and subtle mint notes.
