Linx Gaia vaporizer Review

Design

Although its shape reminds of a simple box with a ‘chimney’ stuck on its top, the Linx Gaia vaporizer looks absolutely great. Even during the unboxing, and before removing it out of a matte bag, it gave me this cheap impression like any average looking device. However, when I held it my hand, its top-notch design shone at me.

The matte metal surface, mouthpiece made of fused quartz hidden behind a little metal cylinder, and OLED display are so well harmonised that it overall looks as if it were a higher-class device.

But the Gaia does not only take pride in the look. This vaporizer is also a sophisticatedly built device to make its use extremely practical. This is proved by a small widget, a magnetic aid hidden inside the unit, so you do not have to carry it anywhere freely in individual packaging in your pockets. Moreover, the Gaia’s unit does not heat up even when it is set to the highest power.

Heating

Usually, when you turn a vaporizer on, you can put it aside and fix yourself a drink. This does not apply for the Gaia. After turning it on, the digits, which indicate the temperature inside the chamber, change so rapidly that it is hard to follow. It takes only about 20 seconds to reach the desired temperature. This is a remarkable result.

Vapours

The quality of vapour might not be your cup of tea, but it is not disappointing either. The combination of the hybrid heating system, which combines conductive and convection methods, and used materials is the guarantee of clean vapour. The mouthpiece and chamber, both made of fused quartz, neatly maintain the flavour. The only major flaw I have found was the mouthpiece. It is too short, and vapour produced at the highest temperatures does not cool down completely. It is, therefore, best to use the device to 190 °C maximum. Besides, with lowering the temperature, you will also achieve a better flavour, and the battery will last longer.

Portability

The Gaia vaporizer has rounded edges and is only 8 cm high. Thus, it easily slips into any pocket. As usual, I was a bit worried about the glass mouthpiece, but Linx took care of this. The mouthpiece is protected from damage and dirt by a magnetic guard. Hence, this makes portability very convenient.

Battery

The capacity of the battery is 2200 mAh. It lasts for about two hours during a standard operation, which is not too bad for a portable vaporizer. The charge time for the battery is about three hours.

Design quality

The Gaia has an aluminium ground finish, which looks really cool. I had the chance to test the metal version, and I must admit that I would have guessed it for a much expensive, higher class device. The unit is well built and durable. I believe that if you accidentally drop it, it will survive without any substantial damage.

Cleaning and maintenance

To clean the mouthpiece, it is ideal to use a cotton bud dipped into analcohol solution. Use it to clean the mouthpiece inside out. There is the already mentioned magnetic aid that can be used for cleaning the chamber. A little brush will take care of the rest, and you are done! Very simple.

Simple operation

Over time, I have gotten used to the simplest control that is usual for portable devices, and the Gaia is not an exception. Three buttons are just enough for turning the device on/off and temperature regulation. The OLED display,on which all the necessary information is well presented, completes it.

Summary

As per the price, the Gaia vaporiser falls into the middle class. However, the function and design make it look like a much more expensive device. It has a chamber and glass mouthpiece made of fused quartz, which you do not often get to see even in high-end models. The flavour of vapour is above the average, which is sort of expected from this vaporizer.

Verdict

If you are looking for a good quality portable vaporizer, which purchase price will not break your pockets, the Linx Gaia is the right choice.
