Flowermate CAP PRO Vaporizer Review
Use
Flowermate devices have always been simple and effective. This time, as with the previous model, it is easy to use. Five presses of one of the two buttons and it's on. Five more presses and it's off. A gentle but distinct vibration alerts you to both of these changes.
Temperature setting
With the previous model, the user had three preset temperatures, which I personally consider a significant minus with vaporizers. The Flowermate CAP PRO goes a long way in this regard. With this unit, you have complete control over the temperature, and it ranges from 40 to 230 °C. Such a wide temperature range allows you to harness the potential of virtually any herb.
In vaporizers at a similar price level, this option is not quite as common. The device heats up to the most commonly used temperature of 190 °C in about 30 seconds, which is announced by the familiar vibration. After that, you just need to gently inhale the vapour produced. It really couldn't be simpler.
Mouthpiece
The shape of the mouthpiece is a tried-and-tested classic and, because it is magnetic, it can easily be removed to reveal the herb chamber.
The spiral air path gives the vapours plenty of time to cool down and they are gentle and non-irritating as a result. This path is completely isolated from electronics and is made of zirconium.
Battery
2,000 mAh isn't exactly low, but on the other hand, it's not a record either. Nevertheless, the device can handle a full day of normal use just fine.
Unfortunately, the battery is not removable, so you'll have to keep that in mind and pack a charger if you plan a multi-day trip.
Vapor quality
The new CAP PRO boasts an enlarged herb chamber that now holds around 0.3 grams of material. In the original model this was only one tenth of a gram, so the shift is quite marked.
Even though the chamber uses mostly conduction heating, it does an impeccable job. The vapor cooling is surprisingly efficient. I don't even mind that the mouthpiece doesn't take the form of a glass tube, which provides additional cooling.
Quality of workmanship
Flowermate makes fairly reliable and sturdy units. While I obviously haven't had time for long-term testing, I have no reason to think it will be any different this time around.
The anodised aluminium body feels comfortable in the hand and looks nice to boot. The OLED display and magnetic mouthpiece are elegant and integrated into the device in a first-class way.
Portability
The CAP PRO is approximately twice the size of the original CAP. Even so, it is still a very portable and comfortable device. With a weight of only 90 grams, it also won't weigh too much on your pockets.
Cleaning
Cleaning the Flowermate CAP PRO is fairly simple - just clean the chamber and mouthpiece strainer every few uses. Every dozen or so sessions, disassemble the mouthpiece and soak it in isopropyl alcohol to completely clear the vapor path.
Discretion
With its matte color and reasonable size, this vaporizer is easy to stash in your pocket and will feel more like a power bank to the casual observer.
Keep in mind the smell the unit produces when the herb in the chamber heats up - it's not as pronounced as when smoking, but it definitely gives off a noticeable aroma.
Reviews
Its predecessor already earned above-average reviews, and since the manufacturer incorporated most (if not all) of the comments from users of the previous model into
the new version, I rank this one even a notch higher.
The Flowermate CAP PRO vaporizer exceeded my expectations in many ways. Moreover, it is really easy to use!
