DaVinci IQ and + MIQRO vaporizer review
Quality
Probably the first thing you notice after unpacking the box is the weight of the vaporizer. You will immediately see that it is not a plastic toy that shatters into a million pieces if you drop it on the floor. It weighs over 140 grams, mainly due to the materials used, not the device's size.
The only weaker spot of the IQ is the conductive heating zirconia ball (pearl) chamber for herb vaping. This helps regulate and equally distribute the temperature in the chamber. You can also adjust the chamber's position by turning it. However, if you are not careful enough, you can easily lose it.
Because the airflow tube and mouthpiece need to resist high temperatures, they are also made of zirconium. The vape steam can cool down quickly enough before it reaches your mouth. The steam is also completely clean, and its taste is not affected by any possible external factors.
Design
The IQ, at least in my opinion, is one of the nicest devices on the market. The body's metal look is neatly completed by the tiny LED lights that replace a standard digital display. They light up in different patterns, giving the user important information in a unique (and cool) way.
Three decent buttons complete the design on the device's side, which is enough to control the vape conveniently. However, if you think buttons are a matter of the last century and you prefer a touchscreen, there is an app available, which I further discuss in the text.
Besides the weight, you will probably be surprised by its size too. Images make it look a lot bigger than it actually is. Thanks to its size and shape, the vaporizer is conveniently portable, plus it is effortless to palm it, so a good amount of discretion is guaranteed.
The DaVinci Mobile App For the IQ (Android only) is straightforward to use and offers wide controlling options. You can adjust the vaping temperature and brightness of the LED lights and control the device through a mode called Smart Paths.
Smart Paths
The Smart Paths mode lets you control the temperature during the course of the vape in the 'path' you choose. You can choose from four preset modes, or you can customize your own. For example, you can start at a specific temperature, which then gradually increases within ten minutes.
This mode's advantage is activating different terpenes in the botanical material, letting you always enjoy a unique vaping experience.
Battery
I have conflicting feelings about the removable battery (3,500 mAh) that is in the DaVinci IQ. Its battery life gives you about 80 minutes of operation, which is not bad. And two charging options – using micro USB or an external charger – also look appealing. But four hours of charging by the use of the USB cable is quite a long time. However, the use of an external charger reduces the time by half.
Mouthpieces in the DaVinci IQ
You can choose from two mouthpieces with the IQ. The first one is flat, and the second one has an extended tube.
Both have something in them. The flat mouthpiece does not interfere with the vaporizer's shape, and the second one cools the steam down much better. Using the longer mouthpiece will give you a more natural feeling during the vape. However, carrying a vaporizer with a protruding tube around is slightly less comfortable.
DaVinci MIQRO
As I promised initially, I took the opportunity to test the IQ's smaller brother, the MIQRO. It is about a third smaller than the IQ, but many features are identical, for example, the cool LED panel, removable battery, high-quality steam, and smartphone app. I have noticed the only real negative aspect is the steam temperature, which does not have the chance to cool down properly on its way through such a short airflow.
Rating
The DaVinci IQ is a modern vaporizer producing very clean steam that cools down perfectly thanks to its zircon components. Its durable body and discreet look are a huge plus. All this is wrapped into a beautiful design and easy-to-operate app. The icing on the cake is the boost function, making the temperature rise much faster than usual.
Verdict
It is not the cheapest vaporizer on the market, but its positive aspects highly outweighed the minor shortcomings. Thus, I can fully recommend the DaVinci IQ.
