CBD oil and tattoos

Tattoos on the rise

Every second person considers getting a tattoo, but globally only 15% of the population can boast of them. But it is a trend that is becoming increasingly popular and is a way of personal self-presentation, it can be an expression and representation of a memory, legacy or hobby. Paradoxically, even though prejudices about tattoos are receding, one in four Czechs perceives people with a "little thing" on their body negatively.

The skin is interwoven with a dense network of nerve endings and very strong pain is felt when tattooing. Everyone has a different pain threshold, but few can handle the procedure without clenching their teeth. The back, calves or arms can be endured, in other places the pain is much more intense.

The most painful places for tattoos:

  • Ribs (this is the most painful area of the body and the needle naturally shrinks when it comes into contact with the ribs)
  • Fingers and backs of hands (places with minimal subcutaneous fat and high density of nerve endings)
  • Hips (part of the body with very thin skin)
  • Inner thighs (great pain is caused mainly by poor accessibility for the tattooist and the need to be in an unnatural position)
  • Ankles (minimal fat and very close contact between needle, skin and bone)

The wrists, eyelids, mid buttocks or wrists and neck are also very sensitive.

Care before and after tattooing

The day before the procedure, you should adjust your regimen and prepare your skin for what awaits it. These are small things, but you can reduce bleeding during tattooing, which slows healing and makes it difficult for the tattooist to copy the template when drawing.

How to prepare for a tattoo?

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine and narcotics
  • Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated
  • Limit the use of medications such as Ibuprofen to thin the blood
  • Rest and get enough sleep

The tattooist applies a thick layer of Vaseline to the area and wraps the tattooed body part in foil. This can only be removed after three hours. However, be careful not to let dirt or tight clothing and bedding stick to the wound. Tissue fluid (not to be confused with pus) dries on the skin and promotes scab formation. But regular lubrication is essential. The skin needs to be hydrated, supple and nourished.

Products and skin treatments after tattooing

  • Preparations without antibiotics and alcohol
  • Ointment with vitamin E
  • Apply only a thin layer to allow the skin to breathe and regenerate

CBD helps from the first moment

Everyone experiences skin healing differently. It depends on the extent of the tattoo and the sensitivity of the skin. After three days, a scab usually forms and the main part of the regeneration takes about a week. However, you may experience uncomfortable pressure and itching for up to a month after the procedure. No wonder people are looking for new ways to relieve the skin. And CBD oil is a holistic remedy with many positive effects.

Studies are gradually revealing how cannabidiol can affect the human body. Most of the news is positive, but that doesn't mean you can automatically consider CBD harmless. While the WHO has labeled it safe, research is still in its infancy and you need to be cautious with cannabis compounds. On the other hand, CBD oil is an ideal product that can help you avoid complications such as scarring, crumbled paint or irritated skin. Moreover, if you combine it with jojoba oil, aloe vera or deanol, healing will take place much faster.

Pain relief

CBD can be effective for chronic pain, but of course it also works for one-off problems (tattoos). After taking cannabidiol, skin sensitivity will be reduced and contact with the needle will be much more tolerable. The subsequent healing that accompanies itching and tension will also be easier.

Relieve stress and anxiety

The tattooists recommend that you arrive in a good mood, sleepy and relaxed. But this is not always possible. Fear of the procedure and stress increase the body's sensitivity to painful stimuli, and even what you normally tolerate without problems can trigger a disproportionate reaction. Cannabidiol can make the body more resistant to stress and emotions.

Inflammations and infections

The tattoo site tends to be swollen and red. This is a normal condition and a normal reaction of the immune system. The anti-inflammatory effects of CBD can speed up healing and retreat itching and prevent infection. If the oil contains vitamin E, among other things, it can protect cells and help heal the wound. Unlike commonly used pain medications, it is gentler on the body. It does not increase blood pressure and thus does not cause painful blood flow to the affected area and irritation.

CBD on the skin and under the tongue

For the first three days, you should not touch the tattoo at all, except for washing it with antibacterial soap, and only protect it carefully from pressure, dirt and infections. Before you start using oils directly on the skin or topical products with CBD to moisturize and better heal irritated and swollen skin, you can control the pain with cannabidiol administered sublingually or possibly by vaping. If you're planning a tattoo long in advance, it's recommended to start taking CBD in advance and take advantage of all its possible effects. This way, you'll handle the procedure at the tattoo parlor much better, you won't feel as much pain, your immune system will be stronger, and your fear of the needle won't be in full force.

CBD oil versus hemp oil

Don't be fooled, these are not the same product. You're talking about CBD, the hemp compound. While CBD oil is an extract of cannabidiol dissolved in hemp or coconut oil (or other oils), hemp oil comes from seeds that do not naturally contain cannabidiol. So if you buy it, you'll be softening your skin after a tattoo, but without the CBD. With CBD oil, on the other hand, look for analysis and certification from the manufacturer to make sure the product you choose contains the stated amount of cannabidiol and doesn't have toxic substances in it that could have gotten into it during cultivation or production and caused you health problems.

Summary

CBD oil can be a good tool for treating fresh tattoos due to its effects such as pain relief and its ability to reduce inflammation and the effects of stress. However, you must only choose from certified products (this applies to all purchases) to ensure that there are no toxic substances in the oil.
