8-OH-HHC is a hydroxy derivative of HHC with an added hydroxyl group on the 8th carbon. It is formed by oxidation of HHC with the help of an enzyme (cytochrome P450) found mainly in the liver. Commercial products with 8-OH-HHC are synthesised chemically from HHC.

Although research is lacking, based on previous experience with other HHC derivatives, the effects are expected to be similar to those of THC or HHC, but are likely to be less intense.

8-OH-HHC has a psychoactive effect and may affect perception, induce feelings of euphoria, relaxation or increase appetite.
